Challenge

Reduce cost by creating extended offshore teams, acting as a virtual extension of onshore IT organization.

Solution

Multiple teams created across three locations – UK, Hyderabad and Bangalore to work closely with the onsite client teams, their captive IT Center and TESCRA delivery center.

• Onsite application architect worked closely with client solutions architect and analysts to document and translate requirements to application architecture.
• Offshore teams worked at two locations – one team worked at the client’s captive center as an extension of the existing team, providing application development services.
• Application maintenance and support services were delivered through TESCRA’s offshore center in Bangalore, where the teams could me more easily scaled.
• Offshore teams traveled.

Results

• Cost reduction of 30% against previous structure by distributing a larger team offshore.
• Deploying an onsite architect ensured reduced rework due to communication gaps or lack of understanding.
• Team ramp-up and ramp-down became more structured and timely owing to availability of a larger resource pool at TESCRA’s delivery center.
